OE oil filter no longer zig zag?

Just bought 2 OE oil filters from euro car parts (They came in VAG boxes with the audi, vw, seat and skoda logos on) and to my surprise they were not in the zig zag pattern like I remember them being? the pleats are just straight... might as well have bought a cheap one!
 
I bought a genuine Audi filter last year and it had straight pleats. Got another one in May for the annual service and it was the zig-zag design.
Still would never buy 'pattern' filters
