Oil alarm with red light in dashboard and washers in sump

Hi. I have an oil alarm with red light in in the dashboard, the alarm turns on and disappears randomly. Has changed oil and oil filters but the alarm is the same. Is there anyone who has tips on what I should do? I have a 1.6FSI engine in my audi a2.

Best regards

Lars

I'm thinking you need to find a way to check oil pressure. It could be genuinely low, in which case don't drive it, or it could be the oil pressure switch, which would need replacing. Maybe find a local mechanic or garage who can get a pressure gauge on it urgently. Mac.

Just had the same issue on my FSI. In my case it was the Oil pressure switch. I'm told there are two types one with integrated oil level (c£85) and standalone switch (£20). Luckily for me it was the cheap one. Can only echo the point about made by PlasticMac to get a local mechanic to look at yours to be on the safe side.

Hi PlasticMac and EdineA2.
Thanks for your advice. I will check the oil pressure sensor. Hopefully it is the pressure switch. Best regards. Lars

My parents A2 also suffered a similar and worrying intermittent oil light warning light. Turned out to be just a damaged wire and quickly resolved by the local Audi specialist.

The Oil alarm is back. This time I opened the sump to see if it was a lot of dirt in the sump. No dirt, but I found in the sump
4 Peace if thruster washer for bearing cap o. 3. See Picture below /washer in sump

This washers has loosen from the bearing cap (3) on the crankshaft. Se picures below part no. 6 and 9

I am not shure if this is the reason for low oil pressure alarm? I need anyway to change the washers and probely also the bearing cap no. 3
Se Pictures below.

Problem now is where can i get bearing cap no 3, in the pictures above (part no. 4 in the exploded view, two pictures abow?)
Close Picture og bearing cap below, wear on one side of the bearing cap, which is the side where the washers has falen out
initially. On the crankshaft it is som sign to weare in one side towards the bearing cap no 3.
