Information Oil filter check

Hoping someone can help with a service related query. Took the A2 for a service and not 100% sure if the oil filter has been changed. Can someone advise if this can be changed without removing the under tray completely (can it be accessed from the side with the tray partially unbolted) and the same sort of query for changing the oil. I think I'm getting a bit paranoid although the tray looks undisturbed apart from not fitting properly behind the o/s wheel.
Thanks for any help

certainly possible to change the filter without removing the undertray, I also think it is possible to drain the oil with the undertray in place, especially if the car is up on a 4 poster ramp.
I remove the tray when I service mine because I like to check everything is OK, no oil leaks etc

Can the oil filter be seen at all with the tray in place or does some of it need to be pulled open at the edge?

The oil filter on a diesel is more accessible from the top.
Perhaps the garage sucked out the old oil?

Filter is changed from the top on a TDI as its just a canister.
Just waiting for a quickvalve so I can change mine without removing the undertray.

TDI oil and filter can easily be changed without removing the undertray.
