Oil level sensor

It finally arrived.
It seems very easy to drill the hole.

I will keep you posted on the adaptation.

The cost was half than the other one. This is the r8 version.

I managed to install the r8 sensor to a2 1.2 tdi :)
It works very well and the price was 170eur with shipping...so around 80 euros less than the a2 version.

Hello,

As shown in the photo below, the oil level sensor for the 1.4 TDI is located on the top of the sump, just behind the drive pulley for the aux belt. It's held in by one bolt from above (10mm, if I remember correctly). Once the bolt is removed, the sensor can simply be pulled upwards out of the sump.

Cheers,

Tom

Just reviving this thread as I have my new oil level sensor ready to replace on my 2004 1.4 TDi.
Is this accessible from above or best reached from below? I've had a quick look with the bonnet off and can't see past the casting on the left hand side of the photo.
Any tips (@timmus ) much appreciated!

Only reachable from below.
You need to remove the under engine plastic shield. From there it is very easy.
(for the 1.4 you can try to remove the wheel and wheel cover and see if this isn't easier)

You need a 10mm spanner if I remember correctly. It is a easy job after the car is jacked and the shield is removed. Careful with the oil sensor plug (but this is like any other audi/vw sockets)
