On the cusp of letting the A2 go

Broken wishbone on the driver side with complete rust and corrosion all the way through the metal..

£470 for repair at the dealership and bear in I've spent money on fixing other issues this year.

With service and MOT due along with the need to replace tyres at the back, is it time to let it go? I would like to to be able to keep it for another year or so, but I'm horrified if any other major component was to dramatically fail on me.

If it's an otherwise nice example, I'd definitely repair it. I'd suggest using an Audi specialist rather than the main dealer. A new at will lose more than the cost of the repairs as soon as you pick up the keys.

I agree with that steve and that's one of the main reasons I'd like to keep it. However on the flip side of that, I tend to keep having these random problems, for instance the throttle housing which needed replacing followed by the bearing, and then now the most current and dangerous problem with the wish bone.

How difficult is it to have a really good look at the car and properly assess what needs changing and what doesn't? I've been back and forth to many a mechanic and have been told that's it fine to drive to later discover something major is going on!

I think you need to find a good Indy. I can do stuff myself and could do the wishbone for less than £100, an Indy would maybe charge the same again in labour.
