Open Sky Rubber Seal

Haven't used the sunroof for a while now thanks to the cold weather, but I was having a close look at the outside today and noticed the rubber seals between each open sky panel seem to be perishing a little. Is there any grease or lubricant that will slow down the perishing? and is it possible to just replace the rubber when it eventually gets worse instead of the entire roof?

Thanks for your help,
Edd.

I bought some of the silicone lube that Skipton recommended but haven't applied it yet. I'm still waiting for a dry moment in daylight!

I had to go to a B&Q warehouse as the wee one nearest me didn't have any. It was to be found in the building section and took the staff 25 minutes to find. Be prepared for a wait! :)

The silicone lubricant is good stuff and goes a long way BUT:

Always remove the old stuff first and clean firm the seals with a light oil, otherwise you'll just be making a grinding paste that will actually eat into and destroy the seals in double quick time.

Cheers

Mike

When you say a light oil do you mean something like bike chain oil or sewing machine oil?

Thanks,

Iain
