OpenSky screen removal

I've tried to search for, and failed to find, a guide to removing the internal screen for the OpenSky. Any tips?

open the roof

the movable section has four clips, "y" formed, with pads at the top of the y. They're lightly sprung. Remove by taking one or both out from one side and then the whole thing comes out.

The main frame is more difficult. It's held in place with clips around the headliner - it pushes out towards the roof, but don't push the mesh as that will move and the frame won't.

Should take 10-15 mins first time. Reminds me, mine needs to go back in :)

I really want to de-screen my OSS... but I've got a Closed Sky System, so I'm stuck with the screen until I spend oodles getting the roof fixed. :(

Should have mentioned it the other day Tom - working together, we'd have managed it.

Cheers,

Mike

PS How are the brakes now? All tickety boo I trust?

Yep, the brakes are excellent; certainly the best they've been since I've owned the car. I may have been a little low on break fluid for a while, as the point of breaking within the pedal's travel is now much sooner.

Yes, I should have mentioned the screen, but I thought it required the roof to be slid all the way back, which I imagine is impossible without further breaking my 'Open' Sky System. A job for next time!

I had the engine bay steam cleaned a couple of days ago. A guy at a local garage did a hugely thorough job for £20. Not only is everything much nicer under there, but the acoustics have completely changed. The very throaty noises probably were indeed audible due to the undertray being soaked in oil from Oxford. I think I'll go back to this guy after winter and have all the salt removed from the underside.

I've also been tackling the headlight alignment. I've got the dipped beam lights sorted, but consequently the side light and the H3 point too high on the right. I took care to make sure the HIDs were correctly seated, and looking in from outside it appears ok, but I'll remove the whole cluster and have a look over the weekend. It's the only cause I can think of.

I've strayed from topic a little. Sorry folks!

Cheers,

Tom

Just a word of caution. Mike helped me take mine out but it soon went back in. Sure it lets in more light without it, but in summer I found that the interior got far too hot.

Well I took mine out this morning, 5min job. Inside of the car is now much brighter and cleaner - the rear screen was filthy!

I can always pop it back in next summer if it gets too hot.
