Hi all

I’m thinking of changing my alloys....well I’m definitely changing them! My
17’s look the nuts but the price of tyres (just put 3 new ones on) and the fact they’re easily buckled makes think something smaller would be a better investment.

Looking for peoples opinion of which wheels would be best to Change
to in regards to mpg, tyre cost and obviously looks.etc etc. Prefer to keep them Audi, that’s the only remit really! Mines a 90tdi akoya silver.

I've got some TT 16" Wheels for sale at the moment (Clicky) ... Lighter than the 17s and a lot less prone to buckling ...

I'm very fond of my A1 16s though I am likely to be putting pepperpots on as soon as I decide which tyres they'll be wearing. Pepperpots are light(good for fuel consumption) and 15" so tyres are reasonably priced though some of the cheapest (I generally use premium tyres) available are 205/55R16 which are in use on A2s here (though might rub depending on offset, suspension, load).

Also a fan of A1 Sports - Good lady's Project X has these, and Baby Boomer wears them in the winter...

Thanks fellas. Like the tt wheels but the a1 wheels look mega! Straight on like for like fitment? Think I’ll be scouring flea bay for a set and putting mine up for sale!

Yes, A1 16s are a straight swap, OE tyre size not cheap (£75 for premium brand which is more than 205/40R17).

Not yet but planning to, yes. These are 215/45s.

The wheels were damaged by a tyre monkey and need the edges repainted before rubbering.

Hopefully in the next couple of months.

I do really like the ‘claw’ covering the nuts on the A1 and newer Audi alloys. I hear they are pricey to replace but they look good.
