OSS 'Open Sky System' Motor mount

Hi.

Very late to this but can I please also be added to the list?

I’ve yet to actually meet my new Cobalt steed but it does come with an OSS which seems to be working pretty well currently.

I’d rather do the preventative work though.

Cheers

You are added to the list sir

Adam and I fitted one of these at the weekend as a bit of a tester, and to help others understand what’s involved we have produced the attached guide.
It’s fairly easy once you have the head lining removed, as long as you own a Dremel then it’s no issue at all really. Only took about 30 mins to fit once everything is exposed.

One thing to note is that the motor you see attached to the new mount at the end of the guide is just an old motor without its cover that we use for testing. It is not necessary to remove the cover from the motor.

I hope that helps.

Ian

All but one of the first batch have now been posted out or retained at Whittle Towers for fitting at a point in the future

Batch two is a batch of 15 and these will be ready for posting out over the next couple of days, I will send out PM’s over the next couple of days x2
The waiting will not be too long now

Cheers. Paul

The next batch of PM have been sent out to members for OSS Motor mounts. 15 are now boxed up, 1 paid for and will be sent out tomorrow, 14 awaiting payment.
The next batch is underway and should be ready in a couple of weeks - this will be enough to cover all of the orders on post 4
If anyone else wishes to get in on this intro price of £140 then now is the time to come forward.
I will continue to offer these going forward but they will be made to order as one's and two's and as such will be more expensive that the 'batch' price of £140. I cannot buy aluminium plate at the same price if I order smaller quantities plus there is set up time on the CNC milling machine all of which increases the time to manufacture one's and two's. I would expect the price after the initial batches to be £165 and with a lead-time of around 3 weeks
Cheers,
Paul

Excellent news Louis
Thanks for letting me know it arrived safely

Cheers. Paul

Thanks for the excellent guide. I would like to add a comment.
I did not remove the roof lining.
I used a Dremel as described with a Right Angle Attachment.

first I split the casting i two parts as described.
Then I cut a slit in the length of the casting the first part of the split motor mount.
I used a screwdriver to widen the opening.
Then I spun around the part 180 degrees and cut a second slit on the other side.
Now it was easy to break in apart.
Repeat the process with the second part of the casting.
The I followed your description and mounted the new motor mount.

It was no problem to do the job without removing the roof lining.
I am so happy with the New Motor Mount developed by Depronman

Nice job. Proves it can be done without removing the headlining, which saves a couple of hours and broken clips.

That is excellent news and will no doubt make it easier for some members to fit the new OSS motor mount. Removing the head lining is quite a time consuming job so the fact that this is not 100% necessary is very good news
Thanks for providing your findings to the thread.

Cheers,
Paul

for anyone else who wants to get in on these motor mounts, I'm nearly finished with the last batch which satisfies all of the initial interest shown by members. One or two members pulled out so there are a few motor mounts that are currently spare should anyone else want to get onboard at the initial £140 price.

Cheers,
Paul

Adam and I fitted one of these today without removing the head lining. It was actually quite easy with the dremel.

I will be needing some more of these Paul if you are still supplying?

thanks
