OSS repairs

Hi, I am writing to enquiring as to wether you are up and running yet as my sun roof has stopped working. it open half way but will only close manually. can you help. Dave

Thanks for your message. Both panels open and slide back, but the second panel doesn't go all the way back. Stops about 2/3 inches short. It does move evenly both sides. Assume the plastic which holds the cable may be snapped and require the metal update from what I have gleaned so far from various other posts.

Shouldn't do if there both moving evenly, when they fail it pulls only on one side properly and the roof goes a bit a skew, does the motor struggle at the end of the movement, if not have you tried re calibrating the motor ( hold button to close for 10 second after it's shut until it clicks, it could of lost calibration so thinks it's at the end of the runners before it is?)

Hi @Charles... Keen to get my A2 booked in for a full Open Sky service and whatever work needs done to get it back into perfect working order..

The roof lining is also a little saggy... is this something you could restore also.

You are not far from Calne where I used South West Auto Trimming. You can do a lot of the work yourself with a few basic DIY tools following my guide:

How-to: Removing & Reinstalling the Headliner [Headlining]

This how-to describes how I removed and reinstalled my headlining. It includes part removal of some of the boot trims. It covers the removal of the fabric and glue but not recovering.

The headlining tends to fall down when the A2 is about 20 years old but can be earlier after very hot summers. The fabric comes away from its foam backing. It’s the foam backing that has been glued to the headliner biscuit by the OEM. To complicate matters, there is an outer and inner panel and the two fabrics meet in a deep groove.
