Out with the old ..........

The same kit is sold for Ibiza and a2. What difference is there on the springs that you are aware of?
They look a different style of front spring , maybe because the A2 is lighter .....??

Yeah your right ...i think it fits the polo 9n3 as well ..

Have a look at the reviews of JOM blueline Mike, there are some long-term users now reporting them as being of similar quality and longevity as set-ups over twice the price.

Yes, I don't doubt that they have their fans. The role of suspension though is to keep the tyre in contact with the road and comfort is a secondary consideration. Just as I'd never use cheap tyres (Wanli, Linglong, Sunny etc), which are supposedly almost as good as tyres costing twice as much, I'd not trust my safety and that of my passengers to cheap suspension when it's what keeps you shiny side up and pointing in the right direction.

Yup I get the sentiment and I too don't buy cheap tyres however I did invest in pro sport coilovers based on feedback and reviews.

Yes they are cheaper but what is it you get by paying more money?

You only have to look at the issue with koni to appreciate where branding gets you sometimes.

Is it more of a gamble? Perhaps but even the standard springs go snap frequently.

Agree with the Koni sentiment - they are pretty much the only company to produce a frequency selective variable damping shocker and perhaps their wild claims of total reliability backed up with a lifetime warranty have bitten them well and truly.

What do you get by paying more? Better materials and/or finish - we're talking full stainless bodies or better plating and painting. Better R&D which will have been done in-house as opposed to being licensed out to a cheaper manufacturer. Longer warranty meaning that the manufacturer stands by their quality (although I can't see lifetime warranties being offered now).

As to being more of a gamble, it's not a gamble I'm willing to take. Perhaps these companies have made their mark on the cheap end of the market from owners who want a certain look and then want to move on to another car pretty soon? As someone who intends never parting with their A2, I'll be putting the 'best' on Tank, so there's no risk of buy cheap, buy twice.

I spotted that, certainly does not look like it was part of the kit, would be interested to know the reason why it was done
That's an interesting arrangement on the bottom of the rear coil. Looks like the mechanic has fitted some sort of metal washer to keep the coil seated. Did he mention about having to make any modifications to the rear coil spring seat?
That washer and bolt holds the threaded adjustable billet spring platform in place [keeping int centralised] This part seats the spring and offers rear height adjustment by bolting through the original spring 'pan'

Everyone would like to buy the best for their car but i for one cant justify paying more for suspension than my car is probably worth...

As ive said this A2 only cost a few hundred pounds " spares or repair " and im gradually repairing , with new or second hand parts from forum members.....

Im upgrading as my budget allows keeping another A2 on the road ..

And thats just fine for me...
