Hey all

I have been looking for a set of brushed aluminium/chrome mirror cases for My A2 but no luck.
So am going to have a crack a respraying mine but the only thing stopping Me is a paint code I can't seem to find.
I looking for the same mirror casing paint code as the RS4,S3,The Tank if it helps.:)

Cheers,

There isn't a paint code unfortunately, as the plastic mirrors are supplied as 'aluminium look' and that's all the description given.

You're best going to a paint suppliers and asking for an aluminium look paint, plus a semi matt laquer.

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Mike

Thanks for the quick reply. I went in to the only paint suppliers local to Me Halfrauds ,they ask for a paint code. I asked them for an aluminium look paint but the guy behind the paints counter was confused without a paint code.

Go back into Halfrauds (or any paint/car parts shop) and ask for 'Alloy wheel paint', you should be able to get a few different makes giving you different shades

If your going to paint plastic then you will also need Plastic primer and some fine sand paper to key it for the paint to stick

No he can paint straight over the original paint if you are painting your old covers, Will only have to do that from new.
Alloy wheel silver should go as well

Ideally, you need to get the mirrors covered in a thin layer of aluminium (metallised) and then laquered, which gives the best appearance (that's what I had done to mine, which is why they feel colder than the other body panels to the touch).

The wheel paint will look too 'sparkly' I think, but you can give it a go.

Thanks Sarge, The look am after is brushed aluminium plus I don't want the wing mirrors to look the same colour as my shinny wheels if you know what I mean;)

I'm looking to do the same thing to my car (A4), and in searching I stumbled across this thread.

Have you done this yet, and if so, do you have any pictures?

Thanks!

These are the aluminised and laquered mirrors - been done a while now (around 3-4 years) and they are wearing very well.
