Painting Rear Drums

It would have to be black. You can get high temp brake paint can't you?.
Red would be good.
Colour coded rear brake drums!. Why did they use drum on the rears anyway-would discs have been lighter and provided more stopping power, and looked better?.

1,6 FSI has discs on the rear... so maybe just ask Martyn to get you some of those?! [

(BTW sporty Skodas have green ones!!! But most racy ones are red...)

The A2 is so light that we don't need no rear discs. The FSI probably has them because it looks sportier.
The A2 is the best braking car I've ever driven.
I think I'll paint mine darkgrey. Red reardrums is something I link to old civics with low suspension.....

Dennis, could'nt agree more.
They are brilliant brakes, although my rusty drums will need painting soon. On a car of this size and weight rear discs seem a bit over the top. It might sound daft, but my A2 has the best handbrake of any car I've had. The A Class had rear discs and a crap handbrake, it could never be relied upon to hold the car on an incline.

I was a bit disappointed to find that my FSI would have rear discs with the handbrake operating through the pads. My experience with the this setup has always been rather unsatisfactory in the long term, eg Alfasud (handbrake operated on the front, inboard discs) and Delta Integrale (similar system to FSI). The self-adjusters don't seem to successfully take up the slack, resulting in an ineffective handbrake; or the system sticks 'on', if left parked with the handbrake on for long periods (I think damp or corrosion can make the pistons stick). But maybe Audi have it sussed.....
