After replacing my 16" wheels for 17" ones I thought I'd do up my old ones. After giving a good clean I noticed some of the little 'worm' like blebs on thenback of one which is where stone damage lets moisture under the paint and corrosion starts. After sanding and priming these areas - tending to be where the radial arm joins the rime area - I set out to match the grey paint. I thought others may like to know that Fords Polar Grey from Halfords is spot on.

PS Anyone used Chips Away for a wheel?

Yes, my daughter kerbed it while driving on L-plates (so it was my fault) when the car was four days old. £50 plus VAT and now I can't see where it was damaged.

Polar grey was no match for my wheels, but a specialist auto paint supplier supplied silver metallic 098, a perfect match. It's not easy to apply with an artist paint brush (scratches only) 'cos it's really a spray paint, and would be fine used as a spray. The finished job,if scratches count as say 3 out of 10 is 8. Better than £72 plus Vat per wheel at the dealers.
