I'm collecting my new A2 next week......hurray!
Has anyoe got any tips for what to check for in the PDI apart from the obvious specification and condition? I remember msmorley's comments on takeing a CD to test the CD player........any thing else? Thanks.
 
Watch that you don't get pollen from the flowers on the upholstery - especially if it is black cloth!

You might want them to programme the central locking for you - i gather it can be set to lock at 10mph and unlock as you take the key out / unlock drivers door or all doors with one press on the remote. Audi don't tell you this.

Ian. Can they do this on the day of delivery, or do I need give them some advanced warning?
Also, is there a list of these options somewhere? Cheers.
 
I do not know - will find out when I ask them to do it on ours - due November. May be wise to give them a few days so they can do it in the PDI.

Don't know about a list - there may be something in the diagnostics discussion.

I'd request it in advance. Don't take anything for granted. On my last two new A2's the tyre pressure's have been incorrect.
Make sure the service flap opens.
Make sure you have the first aid kit, bottle of oil in boot and puncture repair kit.
Make sure you have a full compliment of service/handbooks.
My current A2, the interior glass was exactly as it left the factory.
There were a couple of stains on the seats.
The clock/calendar had not been set.
No vanity mirror on passenger sun visor.
These are all covered in the PDI so it begs the question, what else have they missed because the relevant boxes were ticked on the PDI sheet.
Check body for scratches as I missed one on the bumper.
This car is going back at the weekend so I haven't taken the above up with the dealer.
For some reason I haven't had a courtesy call from the dealer or Audi this time. I thought that was usual.

My bad experience was due to the dealer missing out part of the PDI and leaving the front suspension packing in place, then telling me all A2's had a hard ride-so hard there was virtually no suspension travel at the front!
But with stuff like that, it has to be a one off....
You may find some polish is left on the paint work-make sure it isn't hiding something
And if the dealer lets you drive it out of the showroom like they did us, don't bash into the A8 on the way out!!!

Stafford Audi rang us yesterday to check the interior colour, spoke to them about the locking set up and reaction was "no problem - will pass the request on but to be safe can you remind us before you collect the car"!!!!!!!!!!!

What next I wonder, will we have to remind them to check there is oil in the engine!
But thanks for the reminder, I'll mention this to Stratford Audi this week.
I've generally been very impressed with the quality of their service, so fingers crossed the PDI goes well.

I've just called my dealer to ask if they will reprogramme the central locking before I collect the car at the weekend. My salesman interrupted me as I mentioned central locking and said we've already reprogrammed it to lock at 10 mph. Impressed or what!!!
Apparently all new Audi's are being delivered with this feature as standard.

When I got mine in 2001 they have never even heard of this feature... so when I asked for it to be done at the PDI he said he will see if it can... needless to say it was done and he was well impressed that the car could even do such a thing... so impressed that 2 months later the garage sent me a letter that they can now add this wonderful feature to your car for a lovely £45!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehe

it's not even a feature - there's a big list on the german site of what you can do with VAG-COM - stuff like what happens when you lock (beep the horn etc) and the 10mph locking etc; it's all just an entry in the computer. apologies, it's in german:

Picked up the new A2 yesterday. 100% on the PDI. The salesman even came in on his day off for the handover.
Do listen to the radio/cassette/CD because it wasn't until yesterday evening that I realised the front passenger side speaker sounds tinny and vibrates. The sound isn't as crisp as it should be. Will have to have it seen to. The auto central locking at 10mph is reassuring.

I collected my A2 last week. Everything was fine on the PDI except the dealer failed to set the anti-hijacking feature on the central locking! Looks like I'll be returning to the dealer sooner than I expected.
