Wahoo!!! She's alive!

Cranked without plugs three times, then it fired up with plugs in first time!!

It ticked while oil warmed up and got to the tappets but then went quiet and now seems very happy indeed.

As expected lots of gubknto burn out the exhaust from the mess before but nonwrror codes no issues at just yet.

Running water in to check for leaks before I drain it and add g13.

So fresh oil, filter, air filter, new clutch kit, ina timing kit and pump. New gaskets everywhere.

And it's my birthday :-)

Phew! Almost back on road. Must order no plates!
Well done Sir a very proud moment

Happy Birthday. Not the last treat of the day, hopefully.

Hi Edd,

Awesome news and very well done Sir. You must be ecstatic with this outcome. Cannot wait to see where you take this A2 as your project threads are always a good read and view. Happy birthday too mate.

Kind regards,

Tom

Ready for little test driven tonight.

A few issues to address, mot advised ball joint boots (solids arms) so those to sort later, near side hub nut won't go back on, looks like threaded shaft end has been hit before, and possible power steering seal leak on off side.

Main one for now is the coolant fan didn't come on despite reaching 100 deg c?? Will search fuses and supply 12v to fan later. I put new green temp sender in housing but kept old blue one on lower hose. Will check it was pushed in far enough...

Do you have the ball joint boots Ed? I’ve got a pair new in the packet you can have for £3.50 to cover postage if not. I’d rather they were used now and I cans buy a fresh set of / when I have a need.

Edd,

This has come along way and I’m sure you’ll resolve these little niggles soon enough. You know I’m quite fond of a Jaipur, looks fantastic!

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi David, very kind! I'll check in morning i think I bought a pack of 4 so will take a look and let you know. .

Took it for road test today, 4 Mikes of pure joy! Brakes great, drives straight, no knocks, clunks etc, suspension decent. Intact the engine feels very responsive with its new seals and cleaned out egr and throttle! Thabks @Fallan for the engine, it's very smooth indeed.

So onto full cleaning inside and out.

Heres some photos to show the mess it got into sat around for so long...like sandpaper paint right now..
