Piston slap and Cobalt Dream Machine, it' not good!

Being a bit old school, I tend to check the oil level and tyre pressures weekly, and also before any longer journeys.
I don’t actually think in 1k miles the oil level has dropped more than a couple of millimetres at most.

Sounds like yours is behaving well. I'm the same, always used to check oil every week or so as well as tyres but
sometimes it's just impractical however this car definitely needs it hands holding otherwise it has a crying fit.

I have every intension of getting the car repaired. I'm still hoping a fairy god mother turns up and whispers in my ear where a new engine might be lying around for a good price, there must be something out there?

Some excellent news to report, as of last night "The Dream Machine" made a 330 mile journey into South Wales and back returning with precious cargo on board! :p Thanks to Daves "scimmyowner" rather timely for sale add, i now have a brand new Audi bottom end minus rods, and a very nice looking brand new bare cylinder head. Thanks Dave,it was good to chat and thanks for the coffee. To say i'm happy would be an understatement! :)

Great news Mark. Great to see that the dream machine will be purring like new soon.

Thanks Darren, it's going to take a good while, i'm probably going to end up buying all new valves, springs, hydraulic tappets followers etc etc. Basically it will end up being a new engine i might as well having gone this far.
