Poject fsi castle red aka SYC BOY

Ahh ok. Car has no mot at mo and no history on belt change, although it is a genuine audi timing belt on car. Wouldn't want to take far before i had belt done. Thx anyway. Steve

Done brakes all round. Took me all day. Refreshed dust shields and calipers/ carriers.

Hi guys. It was close but gonna swap tyres for 195 50 16s. Rears fill the arch and fronts just catch inner wheel liner on full lock. Maybe se suspension might be more forgiving.

195/50x16 is exactly what I'm running on those rims on my SE. I don't get any rub at the front even on full lock, except on one deceptively sharp right-hand bend locally, where it'll catch on the nearside under braking if I overcook it on entry. That's only about ¼ turn of lock though ... which points to worn springs in my case I think.

They look good though. Not tempted to just trim the arch liner a little?

My suspension does look a lot higher than yours on my SE...

Got a trade going with tyre fitter. He's gonna get me same quality and maybe tread size tyre's and i only have to pay fitment charge

Hey, that’s brilliant! No risk. I wonder if I could get the same deal up here...

It's worth the ask? I think he's having the better deal as the 3 continentals i have are excellent. Only hope he comes up trumps.

Got tyres and wheels on car. Looks a lot better IMO. Fixed passenger front electric window mechanism. Getting parts together for full service including timing belt.

Paint looks good but has some nasty scratches to panels and think it's had roof bars fitted at some point. Needs a damn good mopping now. And a timing belt, spark plug change, oil change and brake fluid change. I've done the easy bits (air, fuel, pollen filters). Gotta do some overtime me thinks.

Gave car a once over with my new orbital polisher and some g3 scratch remover. Results are very good. Got most of the nasty scratches and haze out. The pearl effect really pops now. I think another go then apply some wax. Also swapped out spark plugs for some bosch super 4s. Sycboy's purring like a kitten.

Haven't done much over past couple of weeks. Had to concentrate on keeping other cars on road. Mot time on both cars, and service A2 etc

HI guys
Slow going here on this project, was hoping to be using the car by now.
Very busy at home/work( with 3 cars being used and need to be kept on road) and always something to do on weekends/time off etc.
With my lack of garage/drive space, 'SYC boy' is up my parents house on their very big drive. As most people know, Weather isn't always the best in Wales. Anyways enough moaning more parts changed on car.
Passenger front electric window mechanism repair kit fitted, what a difference.
Spark plugs, oil and filter changed (castrol oil, mann oil filter) even though car sounded sweet on 'tickover', it sounds a lot better now.
The dreaded 'Y' hose coolant pipe connector split on engine warm up so gotta raid the parts bin again.
On A plus point i think it was the original Audi connector as it has an 03 date stamp on it.
Slowly getting to finish line on this one.

HI All
Looks like this will be passing onto someone else. With any luck i'll be moving house and using money generated from sale of syc boy to pay some home moving bills. Be sad to see it go.
Steve

HI All
With a lot to consider over next couple of months, I have passed 'Sycboy' onto the capable hands of someone very familiar on this site. I'm sure he will be along shortly with pictures of his newly acquired purchase.
Thanks for all info and support
Steve
