Police Action

Hi
I sold my A2 to a club member in October 2016 who I won't mention on a public notice.
I have received a POLICE notice saying I was driving with undue care on the 10/2/2018.
I would like the person to inform the POLICE that it wasn't me!!!!!!!

It shouldn't be. I filled the form in and sent it off.
How can I tell?
Contact the DVLA and the police. It's hard to imagine any explanation other than the DVLA not receiving the change of owner info. What did the police letter say, any request for money, scam?

It sounds like you may have a received a "Notice of intended prosecution" which has to be issued within 14 days of certain traffic offences being committed. I would contact the issuing Police area and inform them that you no longer own the car.... giving them details of who you sold it to and the date on which it was sold.

This is not really a matter that should have been brought to the forum and this thread is now being closed. Please correspond amicably via PM.

As others have said, you can call to check if it's still registered in your name. If not it's probably a scam. If so I would find another source for the phone number for the police department that is listed on the POLICE NOTICE (just in case) as sometimes the scammers will put "Ring this number for queries" and it turns out to be a premium rate number that charges you £5 per minute or something stupid.

Good luck with this.

It is a genuine notice and insists on a written reply.
As it is so long ago I am not sure I have all the sale details.
I do know the club member I sold it to but am reluctant to mention his name.
I may have to if he doesn't reply to this.
I am just about to PM him.
