Poor pickup in low revs / occasional misfires

First thing to do is give the car a full service using OEM quality parts. Then fix the already known issues.

Worth considering a Teraclean assuming lower manifold flaps are OK.

I'm not convinced about TerraClean. If I understand it, it's a high detergent fuel, that the fuelling system of the engine is fed with, so does what a high detergent fuel such as Shell V-Power does.
It's still far from certain that the car will stay with @bleng so if the slow pick up etc can be fixed, he will, hopefully, decide to keep it, and then do the full service, perhaps.
Mac.

Yes but if the car has been run on the wrong fuel they reckon that v power will take 12500 miles to achieve what one Terraclean treatment will. Bit more to it than just detergents. Also do not know if the car has been run on the cheap E10 fuel that is incompatible with the FSI fuel system.

Bottom line if you are going to buy an FSI you need to get a truthful response from the previous owner as to what fuel has been used. Also be prepared to spend money to fix issues specifically due to wrong fuel.

Not knocking the FSI just the owners that do not have a clue and treat it as a cheap run about and run it into the ground. They really deserve better treatment than that.
