Positive Charge Pressure

Hi Guys

6 months after replacing my split intercoole, my car is dropping into limp mode whenever I go over 3800 revs (particularly when travelling uphill).

All of the hoses connecting directly to the intercooler seem fine as does the intercooler itself.

VAG-COM is telling me the following:

1 Fault Found:

17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation

P1557 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Are there any other hoses or things I can check?

Cheers

I have looked at the rosstech solutions list

Possible Solutions
Check Hoses/Pipes to/between Components
Check Solenoid Valve for Boost Pressure Control (N75)
Check / Clean / Replace Charge Pressure Control
Check / Clean mechanism for variable nozzles

I don't know where or what to do with the bottom 3 solutions, once I have elsawin running again, will it explain how to check those 3 things?

any help on this one would be great as I don't know where or what I am checking there.

Cheers

Do you have a 75 or 90BHP TDi? If you're not sure, does your car have rear disc brakes?
The 90TDi has a variable nozzle turbo, these are a little prone to sticking.

The N75 is a solenoid that controls boost pressure from the ECU. This can often stick, or indeed the small feed hoses to the N75 can split..
The charge pressure control is the mechanical boost pressure controller -also known as the wastegate. This can also wear out/ spring sticks/ diaphragm splits.

I'm sure others can highlight the location of the N75 and the wastegate with handy pictures. Good luck!

Cheers Dan

I have the 75 TDi.

Some images of what i'm looking for and how to "check them" would be great.

Limp mode only occurs if I run over 3500 revs, does this help identify the specific cause?

Thanks for you help!
