Possibly fitting of Sony aftermarket head unit

I'm considering changing my Concert II head unit for a Sony mechless unit. My main concerns are if there is an adaptor to avoid finding an ignition-switched live from elsewhere and will the rear speakers still work due to the separate amplifier. I have looked in the ICE section, but would like to double check before buying anything.

Fitted the cd Sony unit to mine a few weeks ago. If you have climate you take a switched feed off there. I had to buy an adaptor loom - one I got from amazon was wrong as it had rear speakers fed from rca plugs rather than the outside sets of wires in the plug out the stereo. Halfords sell the correct one apart from the live feed. I also found I had to get a powered adaptor for the aerial and the female/male adaptor for the radio. Power to the adaptor goes into the blue/white power out from the new loom IIRC. I bought the unit primarily as I still wanted to play the odd cd and the one I got also has the option of a red display. Also has sub - out as I have a Kenwood sub under the seat and it has a mic for hands free. Not a "pure" modification but with the miles I do I cant be having the bluetooth dropping out when it feels like it.

Just to add, Mine is a sport with 2 speakers in all 4 doors and a blaupunkt amp under the drivers carpet/ hatch.

Thanks. so long as it's possible without too much re-wiring, I can cope. I never listen to the radio, so may not bother with the aerial amplifier. The Sony unit I'm planning to use has the option of using a steering column mounted remote stalk, like one I had in a previous car. Very useful.

And i also had to buy a small adaptor that screws into the dash before fitting the new radio cage - the OE radios are about 20mm wider than single din

I know its all amazon, but the last image should be of the correct loom if you have the same amp - all 8 wires are in the din plug for front and rear speakers.

Thanks very much. Saved me looking for them ? ?

I've just received the adaptor loom from amazon. It appears correct. I don't suppose you can remember which wire you used off the climate control connections for ignition switched live can you?

think I had to swap the red and yellow feeds to the radio, there are only 2 thick wires on the power plug to the climate unit. I cant remember off hand as to which colour is but I found it on here with a search. If you have a multimeter its a simple check of 12v / on or off.

Thanks. I ended up using a fused connection from the fuse box. All works fine apart from interference whilst the engine is running, and only from the rear speakers. Constant buzzing, very annoying. Any ideas?

Have you crossed one of the -/+ wires on the speakers? Are both rear speakers noisy? I believe the rear negative are joined to gether when they join into the red plug?

The rear speakers have there own amp I believe, fed by the line outputs from the head unit. Check that you have line out, and grnd (dodgy grnd will give interference on the line outs) from the Sony on the right pins. If you have the original HU, there's a pin out diagram on the top, look for LR and RR. Mac.
