Pro Boost FSI remap

If there is someone near me with an FSi I would be more than happy to take a look and see what the issues are and see if I can help find a cure.
Hi Ian:
I am in Horsham, is that anywhere near you ? Thanks,
Ami

Hi Steve:
What is the cost of this remap, as my FSI has a problem that makes the engine light flash then stay, my scanner shows cylinder 1 & 3 but the car runs fine 2 years ago it was doing the same, I cleaned the earth cable behind the passenger head light, the problem went for 18 months, now back
again, tried cleaning the bolt/washer but no change, I wonder if your remap can solve this issue, many thanks, Ami:mad:

Hi Ami, I can't offer any indication that the map will solve that problem unfortunately. It is designed to offer a solution to rough running problems where the inlet manifold flap still has movement by making a number of adjustments to the way the swirl flaps, injectors, egr and nox system work, combined with a lower running temperature. Those that have already bought and used the map report a much smoother rev range with faster pickup of acceleration.

You are 35 miles from me, Thanks, Ami
Hi @Ami.
Have you checked the coil packs? If not, try swapping one of the packs on a problem cylinder with one on a good cylinder. See if the fault moves with the coil pack. If it does, replace the two packs. Maybe check date code on all packs. If original fit, consider replacing them all. I did mine last year. Used Bosch.
Mac.

Hi Steve:
Thanks for getting back to me, I may very well need to try this at some stage, I have 2 Fsi Ecu's in my warehouse so no problem sending you an ECU, I can also send the ECU from my Black FSI to avoid having immobilizer issue, 2 questions:
! )If I send an ECU that is not from the car, how will I over come the immobilizer issue
2) will the remapped ECU work on any of my 4 Fsi, s
Thanks,
Can I talk to you at some stage on the Phone, Many thanks, Ami
P.s trying to find your address to send you the book with code for your concert system.

Yes, I have tried other coil packs, but no change, strangely about a year ago the light started flashing, I checked the oil level, it was very low topped up with fresh oil & problem went, this time have tried all that I new but no change, however now that the car has been parked up at my warehouse & battery disconnected for 4 weeks, I will try again coil packs etc and see, but Pro Boost sounds a FANTASTIC ( with Thanks to Steve ) way of resolving many 1.6 FSI problems.
Thanks,
Ami

I have to add, there is NO CHARGE for checking the faults. Its for the good of the club and A2Steve especially. Just trying to help everyone as much as possible
Thank you very much, I appreciate any help I can get & happy to pay to cure my sick FSI She looks so lovely but not very healthy, Ami

Hi Ami

I'm sending off a batch of 5 ECU's to Pro Boost on Monday so should have 'stock' within a fortnight.

1. If you want to retain the original ECU in your car to maintain the immobiliser function then you will need to deal directly with Pro Boost where the cost will be 300Euros plus the shipping in both directions and turnaround time is normally 2 weeks.

2. The pre-mapped ECU's I'm offering here can be used in any FSI engine A2. So you could in theory buy one and change it between whichever car you wish to use that day :)

Thinking of the silver car you picked up the other day, I think the Pro Boost map would solve the EGR issue its reported to have.

Thanks Steve, would you still be able to use the key fob to lock/unlock the car with the new ECU ?

Hi Steve (@A2Steve),

Just picking up Ami's immobiliser point, though it is really a question for Tom(@timmus). If an unlocked Pro Boost ECU is installed, can I assume that somebody like Tom with his know how and magic computer then hook up and reinstate the immobiliser function at a later date without effecting the new remap?

Thanks Steve, would you still be able to use the key fob to lock/unlock the car with the new ECU ?

The lock/unlock signals from the fob are received by the car's CCCU not the engine ECU. There is a transponder in the blade end of the key fob that has to match the ECU in order to start the car. Either that, or the immobiliser on the ECU has to be turned off, as is the case on the remapped ECU's.

Thank you for clarifying that, so if I understand fully, with the new ECU you can open/lock the car as normal with the key fob, can start the car because the matching code on the key & ECU has been disabled, just you no longer have the immobilizer function which is not as bad as having sick FSI.;)
Thanks,
Ami

Yes I’d the simple answer as long as you have the correct cable to turn off and on the immo it is not part of the map files
I’m note sure if Tom as the necessary cable to do this

Yes, if you'd like to have the ProBoost remap but aren't willing to accept the loss of the immobiliser, I can reinstate it for you, irrespective of whether the ECU with the ProBoost remap is your car's orginal ECU or not. :)

Cheers,

Tom

Thank you both. (I have to reply as can't do Likes, sorry Steve to clutter up your thread).

Unless you get @timmus to reinstate the immobiliser, post ProBoost, you'd need (in theory at least) to declare "no immobiliser" to your insurer.
Is the immobiliser fix a vcds job, a vagcommander job or something only Lancastrian incantations can achieve?
Mac.

You make a good point, Mac. This will, for some, be of concern. Hopefully the knowledge that the immobiliser can be reinstated will allay concerns and broaden the uptake.

A combination of software packages will be needed; VCDS alone cannot do immobiliser work. I do all such work using a self-made device called Gizmo the Magic Box, which many members have seen in action.

I can do immobiliser work either at my base near Lancaster or whilst 'on tour'.

Cheers,

Tom
