Pro Boost FSI remap

I use Evans waterless coolant in my Fsi ,The problem with coolant system is higher temperature which causes higher pressure, with Evan's you eliminate the high pressure completely
I don't see how a change in coolant, on it's own will change/lower the pressure in the system. The ProBoost lowers the system temperature via the ECU controlled thermostat, and so the pressure will be lower, regardless of coolant type..
I'd also want to be sure that a system designed for water glycol coolant, and it's viscosity and cooling capacity, will still function correctly with something of a different viscosity, cooling capacity and, therefore different flow rate.

Sorry didn’t want to start something here ?

The water in the coolant system creates the pressure (steam) if you have no water, you have no pressure. Viscosity of Evan's is the same as water plus antifreeze. Believe me you can release the expansion cap at any temperature

I was told this also when I have the fluid changed on the wife’s corsa in that you could open then expansion whenever you want and the fluid would not overflow ( sorry very technical terms there ? )

No water no boil = lower running temperatures I believe

I thought the engine temperature was controlled by the thermostat. Last thing an FSI (in it's OEM state) needs is to run at a lower temperature. That would reduce the thermal efficency significantly.

Some very good news for the future of Pro Boost supply, the friend who transported the current units back from the continent has agreed to bring a larger batch back with him next time.

That should mean I’ll be able to get a batch of 10 across around May.

Steve, please pm me the price & whether you need a Fsi ECU for exchange etc, so I can pass on to my regular customers,
Cheers,
Ami

Amazing news - I really feel that if I were to consider an FSi in future (and I might), then as I do not want to worry about potential reliability issues and the ProBoost cures so many inherent design flaws of the original design from a longevity point of view, the only viable route forwards for me here would be to consider a ProBoost as part of the purchase process - I simply wouldn't buy a FSi otherwise now that most are getting on in miles and all are getting on in age.

I am sure some others feel the same - Although I respect those who do not.

My fizzy (only had it since August) is kaput at the minute, still in that time it has done 2800+ miles …… loved every moment a cracking little car. Every car has its problems some more than others…. I await to see what the problem is???????????

I don't think the ProBoost map actually "cures" anything.

Rather it disables the original FSI functionality in order to provide a "work around" when that functionality fails, due, most likely, to low octane fuel, and poor maintenance by previous owners.

A regularly serviced FSI, with a clear scan, run on 98/99 octane fuel, and high quality engine oil, doesn't need ProBoost, and will not benefit from it.

For a poorly FSI, ProBoost is a good, economical alternative to what may well be an expensive repair.

Just waiting for the VCDS cable to arrive Then the investigation begins…..
