Project Bo

That is a nice result on the arches especially. Just make sure that you clip the fuel cap onto the top of the fuel flap ( as per the users manual ) to greatly reduce the damage to the rear offside arch when refueling. Not preaching to you, more for the benefit of others that would let it bounce all over the wing and arch.:D
Thanks, yes and definitely be very careful with fuel spillages on that area also. I just flicked over the bottom of the car with the same colour as it is not worth, in my humble opinion going to town on that high traffic area. I have just flatted the side mouldings for now, mainly due to trying to avoid car park assassins! For what you get quoted for the arches in body shops I would certainly recommend doing this to anyone with a storm, it is really inexpensive and even if it only lasts a year or so well worth the effort (although the masking off is a long process!).

You can remove the rear arches and paint them off the car. The front arches unfortunately are an integral part of the wing. Using Autoglym Rapid wax on the black will help prolong the lovely finish you have obtained.

Looking good, can I ask which paint you used?
I just used Halfords matte black paint for plastics. Sanded down, used paint prep cloths to clean, and lots of very light coats, 15 mins in between. Like I said it might not last ages, but £20-£30 all in vs £200-£300 i was quoted ? it’s a no brainer for me, I’d rather spend the money elsewhere on the car!

Black centre caps do look good - Audi should have done that as standard. I did black on mine but kept the chrome surround - a fiddle to mask it though.
I would have gone that route definitely, but mine were aftermarket caps, so just had to make do. I think they go well with the storm look, I like the grey caps on the other standard colours.

Today I refreshed the climate buttons on Bo. It was a b****r to get the unit out to change them, but the swap over was nice and easy! Thanks for previous guides on how to do this ?

Darren,

Looks awesome sir. It was nice to meet you and talk about everything A2 for a few hours.

Bo is truly a fantastic example. Where have the road speed limits gone?

Kind regards,

Tom
They are working fine, come up instantly when on the road, this was in my underground car park, probably why they are not showing?
Always great to meet a fellow member and I can confirm project Oem is even better in the flesh for those who haven't seen it! cheers Tom

Great work with the Dremel @2work . I’m in the market for one myself at present so once I’ve secured one I may be having to beg some fitting advice!

Erling,

I don’t think you’re too far away for a visit to Coalville for an hour or 2, pushing 3 if the conversation flows.

I can certainly help out with the cutting and coding etcetera. Have a chat with Darren @Darpod14 to get the accessories shopping list as everything he arrived with for the conversion was spot on.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Well if ever there was a reason to get my finger out and get the unit purchased that’s it!

Seriously though, really kind of you. Just got to find the right one now.

Thanks

Erling

Sorry Darren for the thread deviation,

Erling, keep checking auction sites as over the last couple of years I’ve seen quite a lot of private sellers listing them as Audi ‘Rinse’ as this is what autocorrect changes RNS-E or RNSE to.

Some private sellers who don’t know the value of ‘that old clunky thing’ and list them at rather low BIN prices to assist with funds for their new Halfords HU.

As I have said before, there are deals out there. Just need to search quite often and jump on the deal when it presents itself.

If you purchase the necessary items for fitting (Darren has the shopping list) it will make you more disciplined in searching.

I’m here when you need me sir.

Kind regards,

Tom
