Project Misano (CS)

A2OC - I would like to welcome someone new to our group.......

MrBroons - Hi, my name is MrBroons and I have a problem.

A2OC - Tell us your story.....

MrBroons - I can't stop buying A2's

A2OC - You have come to the right place old son.

;)

....And how does that make you feel MrBroons?.....

So the new chariot requires a new FSI head, does anyone have one lieing around going cheap? Or an engine if cheap?

One month on and ‘project misano’ has received some extra care and attention.

First job was to replace a very smeary wiper blade - so smeary in fact it rendered the wiper useless. Audi needed a couple of days to get one in, so it was Halfords to the rescue with an off the shelf Bosch blade, albeit more expensive than what Audi wanted.

Second job was to get a new thermostat. The car would sit between 70 and 80 degrees which just ain’t right, so a new thermostat later and she now warms up quickly to 90 and stays there.

Third job to attend to was the front bumper that had been carelessly ripped and misshapen by a previous owner. Mrbroons kindly provided a second bumper with more easily fixable damage. This has now been duly fixed and fitted.

Fourth job was an oil and filter change. The car has only done about two thousand miles since the last service, but that was a year and a half ago so it seemed rude to leave it.

Cosmetically, I’ve added Team Heko wind deflectors and also a set of rubber mats. The mats are eBay specials so they were cheap enough and will do the job of protecting the carpets, but they stank of a very pungent rubber odour straight out of the box and are only slowly calming down. Who’d have thought it? I’ve bought cheap rubber mats from Halfords for previous cars and never suffered this phenomena!

There is more to come - watch this space!

I can happily report that the undertray from a petrol A2 fits a diesel A2. Mr Broons was kind enough to let me have a spare he had on the basis of nothing ventured, nothing gained. All that was needed to fit it were a few speedclips that had gone missing over the years (including some square ones that clip into the subframe), a couple of 10mm bolts and a handful of screws. From what I can tell the only difference between the petrol and diesel undertrays is the sound deadening that you get on the diesel ones but not on the petrol ones.

Awesome mate.

New number plates fitted today. Hardly the most exciting job, but the back one had delaminated and was dirty down the centre. I could have just changed that one, but I hate it when cars don’t have matching number plates!

Gave the wee A2 a quick wash and polish and added the A2OC stickers as a finishing touch

Looking good. Looking back you mention you fitted a petrol undertray, did you take these deadening section from a try and attach or live without?

I just used the petrol one as it came, ie without any sound deadening. It’s fine, and better than having nothing at all. I don’t find the engine overly loud anyway.

@Misano Man, I notice you have the slatted front grill, is that from factory do you know?
I’ve recently changed mine to slatted as the original was looked a bit tatty, and I think it looks much better imo!
Cheers Jeff

As far as I know it's factory fitted. I think later cars got the slated grill, and mines a 2004 car.
