Project PITA (Adolf)

Yeh I am using a bby loom and splicing it to the fsi one its all in and I've tried to get the canbus up to set immo and dash.........no luck and warning from program as to not finding controller even though all canbus wire connected correctly.............

Wouldn’t that be done via kline not canbus?

Which is the model of the ecu? As I can send you the pins outs for what you would need just to run VCDS on a bench

I'll have a look on my diags to see what the diagnostic OBD port is wired to if it is Kline this could be part of my problem. Thanks.

FYI the airbag wire blue and white on the ecu pin 53 is the crash signal, this is used to cut the fuel if there is a signal from the airbag controller, it will tell the ecu to stop pumping fuel reducing the chance of fire in the event of a crash

Right.... a replacement for Adolf has been sourced and to be fair its a far better option as far as the amount of work needed to fufil my 3,4,5th car needs...............
Welcome Poppy.............no not my choice of name but "she who must be listened to,s" choice................I had something a little more non PC in mind.............
Fans may have noticed my question regarding Colour Storms well 2+2 =5....yes its a Red CS 1.4 with a few tasty extras......, fully working OSS, climate, rear park sensors, 5 seats, 6 disc changer and a few other bits I've probably overlooked.........
Only real fault, EGR code and some codes on the climate unit, EGR shouldn't take too long its had a replacement EGR fitted so could be simple air leak, blocked pipe, etc.........then clear the climate faults and see what reoccurs.
Future plans ...fit the 1.6 tuned motor................but lets put some miles on it first,....... do I take it holiday in a couple of weeks or use it locally and not worry about faults ruining our holibobs.

EML sorted on Poppy blocked egr pipe to throttle body gave it a good clean with easy start and thinners now runs like a dream......
Adolf gets a reprieve.....had a few bad days with work and can now see the wood from the wood...lol....
Edwrai have you just modified your FSI engine loom to suit your new engine..... Ive replaced my whole engine loom with a BBY loom hence the differences

I have used the fsi loom but you would be mad to do it this way! Looking at a aua loom this would have been similar. The welds in the loom are the main complexity it really wasn’t a case of repinning by any means as the loom design is very different. The avy also has plugs that then attach to an on engine loom.

Simpler not similar.

Poppy now has cruise..........couple of hours fitting and coding..........quite interesting in a little 1.4l car, seems strange that it just sits at a given speed and needs very little input from the engine to maintain, of course all thanks to a very light body......... Its not that I'm new to cruise its just my other cars with it are heavy and need throttle to pull up even slight inclines.
Next job....not sure just yet, I've fitted a full size spare from my collection of parts set aside for Adolf and as Poppy already had a false floor its made a neat job, cheap as well at £15 for the fitting kit and spare wheel.
I've got a spare rns-e nav unit so after converting Adolf to double din easily I may be tempted to do Poppy and use it although many people are going away from the rns-e and using an Android unit as they offer so many more functions.

Have now done just over 250 miles in Poppy, no major problems just a couple of minor niggles, sounds like a rear wheel brg is on its way out but could be noisey tyres have to try my spare set......
Next upgrade comfort blinkers, kit bought £39 from VW cheaper than ebay......will pull the radio tomorrow and fit the relay shouldn't take too long I'll solder the connections rather than the crimp connectors in the kit.

The Cumtec kit from ebay, is plug and play. No crimps/solder required. Unplug relay, plug one end of kit into relay and the other into loom. Job done! Mac.

I don't mind a little work.........therapy from work stress and fills the empty spaces in my brain with useful stuff rather than all the rubbish going on in the world .....

Later cars are canbus two wires high and low, sure all FSI's are canbus........

Hello, may I get a confirmation about the fact that all FSI's are canbus-equipped? My car radio specialist said that mine doesn't have a canbus connection and that's why he can't make a 2002 Concert cassette head unit work on my FSI...! How do I identify the canbus connection once I've pulled the head unit off?

Thanks

Stefano
