Project Squeak

S4 wing mirrors are aluminium and not painted just polished finish..........just use some silver paint close to natural aluminium, should give a reasonable effect

Look at vinyl wrapping. Huge range of colours, including chrome. Reversible if you don't like the look. You can buy the material, and do the mirror shell off the car. Almost "simples" Mac.

The road to recovery has begun for Squeak. Good luck Louis. I am sure you will make a great job of it.

Well today so far on Squeak I put coolant in him to see where the leak was coming from and it looks like the death pipe or the water pump or maybe both ?

What you guys think?

That certainly won't be the waterpump in that location.

It seems to be coming from behind the block which would indicate the death pipe.

Don't bother wasting pink antifreeze until you've sorted it :)

if you are going to be getting the belt done then you might as well have the pipe done at the same time because the engine will be off its mount anyway to reveal the access needed to do the job.

I guess that’s ok as I need the water pump and Cambelt replacing anyway as it’s 5 years old and I also need him to do the intake manifold so I guess it’d be easy to do the death pipe ? ?

Yes, its an easy job if he's doing the manifold.

Today I washed Squeak in washing up liquid to strip any old wax and polish off etc then removed any bug/tar spots

Then I polished out some light scratches and then I polished and waxed him and now he’s all good to go

The interior took me 5 hours and the outside took 4 hours

The interior only took me so long because trying to remove dog hair is a pain ?

Next week I’m going to remove all the seats and shampoo them as they definitely need it ?

Hi everyone I’m going to order a death pipe in a couple of days because I think mine has broken and I was wondering does anyone have a link to a good quality replacement part ?

Thanks:)

That’s going to be an involved job.. are you losing large amounts of coolant? Might be best to go OEM, but in any case, following with interest.

It’s definitely a involved job ?

intake manifold needs replacing

then Cambelt and water pump

Also the thermostat needs replacing

Then finally death pipe

around £350/400 labour?
