You must be fed up, must have spent a fortune on repairs more than the car is worth with almost blind faith in your master mechanic.
Yes the timing belt can be done by any competent garage, you need to post a VCDS else everyone is blind. My advice is to take it to someone who knows what they are doing with an A2. You are an hour away from Gary at B&F Autos in Hounslow, arrange to take the car there, reasonable labour rates and easy to get along from all accounts.
