Radiator fan not working

Hi everybody,
I have the following problem with the radiator fan on my A2 1.4 TDI. I've just replaced the radiator fan, because the old one didn't work. Unfortunatelly after the replacement I found out, that the new one also doesn't work. Only if I connect the new one directly to 12V, it starts.
Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? Is there some fuse which might be blown because the old fan was really dead? Yes, the old fan doesn't really work even when I connect it to 12V directly, so at least I didn't replace the fan for nothing.

Thanks for your help.

not sure TDI is the same but on my petrol, the fan doesn't always run, IIRC. It only needs to run when there is a requirement, triggered by an array of temperature sensor no doubt. Is your car over-heating?

Yes, the car is overheating, when the A/C is on and the car is standing. And the fan must be on once the A/C is switched on no matter what the engine temperature is.

I really think there must be a problem in a relay and/or some fuse or maybe something else. Unfortunatelly I don't know where the relay or the fuse are located.
