Rattle is driving me mad!

Has anybody whose had any annoying rattles in the past got any tips?
I've had it for about a month now on anything but the smoothest of roads, (which are virtually nil in Sheffield) in fact I blame it on my city for happening in the first place ,
Anyway I'd convinced myself it is at the back end but now i'm just not sure anymore so trying to track it down I started by stripping out anything in the boot that wasn't fastened down, checked nothing was loose in the tool/battery compartment & removed the rear seats completly, did a test run & no different,

I then removed the trim on the tailgate to check there was nothing loose around the lock mecanism etc , & there was a tiny bit of play on that so slipped a thin piece of rubber between it & the tailgate, test drove it again & no different , so today I thought I'd look underneath instead, so I took off each wheel and had a good look around under each corner and underneath in general, couldn't find anything out of place again, so I then tried lifting the front footwell panels up & had a good look around, again all seems well, I've given each door a shake to see if it's something inside one of those, guess what, there fine, so up to now I'm no further & have ran out of ideas, paitence & talent ! LOL, anyone else have any suggestions where to check?

I had one which was rattling from the rear seat clips, might be worth checking them mate

Do you mean where the backs lock in position? because I have the problem with the rears out of the car completely.

Firstly,Good luck with your crusade to find the source of your annoyance.

Rattles in my new 01 A2 are driving me crazy too!
In my case I seem two of the three persistant rattles are coming from the dashboard, one from near the ash tray-the other from somewhere near the
hood over the speedo and other clocks. The other seems to be coming from
around the door pillar trim on the passenger side.

Does anyone have a guide to dismantle interior trim or an ABC guide to locating rattles; or is it just a question of elimation?

Cheers

Andy
