Rear door panel removal

Hi,
I have recently become the proud owner of an A2 1.4TDI and I’m still getting used to this great little motor.
I thought I would do a few cosmetic changes. I found some rust! …..and decided to do something about it.
The rust I found was on the screws holding the rear number plate lights in place. The lights are plastic and one of them had cracked making the fixing screw unusable.
I have obtained new light units from Audi and had hoped to just change the outer part of the light. Unfortunately a rusty screw lost its ”head” leaving me with a little problem.

My first question: to get to lights I have to remove the innside door panel. I have had a quickish look and cant find any fixing screws. It seems to be held in by clips.
Any tips here are welcome.

My second question: are there any manuals available in english or german?
(have a copy of elsawin but not running yet)

Thanks in advance

Robin

Hi Robin and welcome!

The rusty light screws are a well documented 'fault' with the car and you're right, you have to remove the clipped on inner panel to tackle the problem.

Can I suggest you PM DarrenC, who has been through this exact process and can possibly help you out with photos or certainly a more detailed description than I can give here.

Also, ELsawin is the only manual available.

Cheers,

Mike
