Rear Doors

My CCU has thrown a hissy fit so basically most of what it controls no longer works. Is there a way to manually open the rear doors?

Hopefully Lau is going to repair it soon...will keep you up-dated...MOT due...urghhh

If they have locked and you are unable to get them unlocked electricly then i'm afraid its a chisel and a big hammer:eek:

You'll have to take the door cards off, then the inner panel then you'll be able to get to the lock and then you'll have to find away to get forced open

Thats what it looks like with the window frame out so its very tight with that in place and the part you need to get to is the other side of the black bit

here's a photo of what the lock looks like out of the door

In the photo is the old and new one (the photo's are taken a thread i posted on changing the catch)

So you can see just how hard it is to get to, and in this last photo it shows you it in the open door and shows one of (i think 3 screws holding it in place) which you can't get to with the door closed :(

Thanks Phil,

You've scared me off! I'll wait to get the CCU sorted, but I'm worried about the imminent MOT and subsequent TAX...

you can manually open the rear doors from the inside by pulling back on the interior handle twice (unless the childproof locks are already in operation)

You can tax it before the end of the month on line as it checks that you've still got MOT unless it runs out before your tax is due

I was unaware that you could manually open the door if its locked i thought the dead lock stays on is it just when the micro switch fails that you can't open the door ????

Are you able to put a feed down the wire that operates the lock ? of course you need to know which one it is, but if you could find out it would unlock the door ?

There are three signals (and I can't tell if it's a pulse or a high or low signal); the contact (so that should be low), the "secure" and the "safe". Go find SSP 240 in a language you understand and read page 48. There are two switches and two motors involved.

my apologies. you're quite right phil the dead lock makes the manual "two pulls" inoperative. i just tried it out.

on checking with the handbook my fsi has a manual lock on the inside of each door behind a rubber bung with a padlock symbol. do earlier a2's not have the same?

DV

manual lock

perfect phil. in your photo there are two mechanisms/adjusters visible. the lower of the two is the child proof lock and the uppermost is the manual locking control.
