not sure if anyone has the same problem. My rear seats are generating some noise when the car is moving over less than ideal surfaces. The seat bottoms are locked and solid, but I think the seat backs aren't as tightly locked (the lock is only on one side anyway). Has anyone found a good solution?

Can't remember when, but someone recently wrote in about the same problem. Their dealer fixed it by replacing the upper backrest catches. My 2001 TDi also suffers - strips of self adhesive foam provided a temporary cure but a visit to the dealer for a proper fix is on the cards.

Hi humps,

What type of noise? Is it a squeek? If so, try removing headrests to see it the noise is caused from them - I had a really annoying noise from both rear headrests until I re-positioned them.

Are the seats properly located in their top holding positions. With ours (and the Passat - same catches I think) you have to give the seat a good shove from a few inches away to make sure it has gone all the way back and secured properly

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

I had it on my A2 too-it was the upper cathces rattling away.

Dealer visit methinks.

I have a similar thing - it sounds like a small tapping noise but is continuous whatever the driving conditions. I'd love to know how to cure it wiothout wasting time having to go to a dealer!

I haven't investigated in detail, it sounds like the upper catch has a flaw in its design. It securely locks the seat backs but they aren't tight fit like the seat bottom locks (which includes a sprung ball join).

I saw a pict in the member photo who made a 'curry bag'. His comment mentioned its also a fix for the seat rattling noise. I was hoping he'll see this thread and comment/shed some light.

Hey Bill, I thought your home made device is wicked! Apart from the rattle cure, hanging curry in mid air also stops it from leaving any smelly dirt in the boot! Do you mind telling us how you made it?
