Red Light oil warning.

Oil warning light in red, is appearing intermintently after oil reaches temperature.

Oil levels are fine and no overheating.
No noticeable change in engine or drive.

I'm guessing/praying its just a sensor fault.

No codes on computer.

Could someone please help point me in the right direction for a replacement oil sensor, europarts have nothing and it seems the quickest way to diagnose is to just fit a new one.

1.4i petrol 03

P.s can I turn off the infernal bleeping noise until I've resolved the issues, I don't know if anyone else has the same problem but when the fuel up warning comes on it makes me jump nearly every time.

When it had happened to me years ago, that sign was red can but with oil written underneath, mostly driving steep uphill.
I'd ordered the new oil pressure sensor, but before I done an oil change as well. The oil warning lights haven't come back again, so I didn't need to change the sensor. I figured as I drive short distances the oil got dirty quickly, and ended up being too thick for the pressure sensor.
Try to change the oil first and see if that fixes it, if not then oil sensor and pressure test.

Thanks for Your reply, yes it does seem to kick in on a steep hill or if I push it through the gears. I did an oil change about 6 months ago, I figured if I just buy new sensor and replace it, that would be the quickest and cheapest way to diagnose. Just can't seem to find a sensible supplier for the part. Thanks again for your input, I've got oil and its not a massive job so Ill do that and try get a sensor if prob persits

The issue is we do not know if it is an oil pressure sensor issue or the oil level / temperature sensor that is indicating.
So the physical oil level seems spot on between the M's. The temperature displays a perfect 90 after warming up.

Also plugged a mid range computer to it and went for a drive, the temperatures were Matching, on four cool to warm test runs.

Last oil change was around 6 months ago, I wouldn't think it needs a change yet but it also wouldn't hurt to do one either.

Probably best to connect up a pressure gauge in place of the sender unit and actually measure the oil pressure when running. If it is too low then the engine won't last very long!

Not coolant temperature oil temperature could be the issue. Can you have a full VCDS scan done and post the results here after removing your VIN number from the results?

I recently had the oil temp sensor fail on my tdi. This sensor is combined with the oil level sensor.
