Pleased with our “new” A2 petrol but lacks torque of our 1.4tdi.Seen ads for remap of 1.4 petrol!anyone had one and what’s the results like?I know with turbo diesels the results can be great as I have had my Motorhome remapped!

Pretty sure I’d read remaps for the 1.4 petrol are a waste of time.

Your best bet is to make sure it's running spot on, concentrating on the ignition system assuming there's nothing else wrong / worn out. These do feel asthmatic unless well looked after, running right they are just fine.

Suggest,..... replacing the plugs with Denso iridiums and use 99 Ron fuel and a terraclean, will make a really noticeable difference to how a good BBY or AUA unit will run. ?

Which do you have?

Most you would get is 2 to 3 bhp on a petrol none turbo
Not worth the effort

Now if you could ram in more air then it’s a totally different answer

Simply getting our AUA running better made a huge difference - on >185,000 miles the injectors were worn, the coil was badly compromised, the plugs were filthy, throttle body full of crud, and EGR bust. After doing all of the above last year you really notice a much stronger pull from 3-3.5k upwards to the redline. Someone here (one of the Steves?) got a stainless exhaust made that is apparently a significant improvement, and in longer-term project thinking, I have an AUB ECU and plans for an AUB (Fabia) swap with the more aggressive cams and bigger injectors. Not this year's problem though.

Despite my other half's fuel-consuming abilities, we are now getting 250-255 miles on a 34L tank (fuel warning only, not emptied) this summer instead of 205-215 last year, so that is a definite step forwards.
