Removal of door lock mechanism

This may sound like an odd question, or maybe it's just me. I have replaced the passenger side doors on my A2 with ones in much better condition, as it was cheaper than having them resprayed. I have been dismantling them, so that as little as possible is wasted. The only item I cannot remove is the door lock mechanism. The bolts seem like an 'in between' size. T40 is a little too small, and slips, and T45 is a little too big. Am I missing something? I don't want to waste the door locking mechanism if I can help it.

May be wrong but something like M8 spline is needed. Do not bodge with a torx you will destroy the head and may have to resort to drilling it out.

When you get the correct size spline, give it a whack with a hammer to help reform the splines and seat the bit fully. Remember to disconnect the exterior handle from the lock, easy to forget.

Will do. I was thinking I may be able to sell them, or just keep as a spare. Are the exterior handles glued in place? As there doesn't seem to be any fixing screws.
