Removing 1.4 petrol (AUA) intake manifold (+ System Too Lean troubleshooting)

Yes, seems like replacing the EGR did fix the fuel trim error. I'm guessing the valve didn't close properly although it didn't look like it was blocked.

I too was surprised at how much blocking the EGR affected the engine temps. I noticed the issue when the outside temperature was close to freezing the other day and after 12 miles the temp gauge was still at the low end. Surely it might mean a problem with the thermostat too, but I'll try again when I can plug back the EGR. I've now replaced the intake manifold with one from Polo GTI and since the flange to which the throttle body connects to is thicker the EGR pipe is an inch too short. I'll try to extend it one of these days. I also need to replace the exhaust since funnily enough the old one started leaking badly after a couple of wide open throttle accelerations with the new intake manifold and throttle body.
