Chat Removing bird POO - From the PASSENGER SEAT !!!!

Hi,

I came home this afternoon to find all of the windows open on my car and when I looked inside, I saw that a bird has taken a dump on the passenger seat!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!

Was that a comment on the mods I have done, or did it like the car so much it left a "deposit"???

It is so easy to make the mistake of having the buttons pressed on the fob while it is in your pocket, isn't it?
This is another reason why I am trying to get the new shaped key to work, it is much more difficult to press the buttons by accident on the newer keys.

I am just glad it didn't rain.

The white alcantara is going to be difficult enough to clean as it is (know any good bird poo remover?) let alone if the rain got to it!!!

Maybe you could ask the French president, I think he has recent experience.
Bird poo is quite nasty (acidic I think) so maybe bicarb and a scrub will help (after letting it dry and scraping off what you can first).
With the interior of my car however, you might want to take my advice with a pinch of salt.

:)

I did this once with a previous A2 and it rained

I turned this feature off on my A1 via the MMI, so check vcds to see if you can turn this feature off on the A2.

I would say try youtube for 'bird poo interior' or similar and see if there are any videos of removal.

You need to remove asap imo.

Sorry, but how does this happen? How am I able to open the windows directly with the keys in my pocket? I just want to know in case it happens to me. It's not something that is a feature of the Beetle.

I also hope you get it off without any damage. It would be absolutely gutting to have the interior ruined by a little S**t..... They normally steal centre caps, aerials or badges.

Just hold down the unlock button and all windows will come down.

Hold the lock button down and they will all close.

When I say "ALL" I mean all of your electric windows of course, some have all window electric, others just have the front ones.

Hold on....... Well would you believe it. So it does. That is my new thing learned for today.

Oddly enough most beetle owners want this and buy a kit to retro fit it.

I find it a huge advantage in really hot weather, as I approach the car I use this to drop all windows down and it then starts to cool off the interior before I get into it.

My front windows somehow went down last night!

Frozen door panel top and frames!

I must have pressed the key whilst laying on the sofa last night!

well with a good looking motor like yours steve, its no wonder you attract all the birds (scottish slang for women) i guess it couldve worse maybe it was a robin trying to steal your car and shat in your seat as a passer by noticed ;)

all joking aside though thats seriously bad luck!

hopefully this will remove with ease leaving no noticeable marks!

If it was me, I would scrape off as much as possible with a dull knife, and then blot as much as possible out (if it hasn't already dried). It's important not to let the stain spread, so work from the edges inwards removing what you can with clean water. Don't overwet. Dab. I don't know the fabric, so its best to practice on a small, hidden area first - better safe than sorry .... so, pinch a toothbrush and very, very gently work at the stain with some laundry detergent (edges inwards, remember). Less is more. Rinse carefully (by dabbing again, don't rub).

If you are left with a residual stain, there is some special laundry bleach that is gentle and even safe on colours and removes stains - that might get the last bit out. Again, important to test on a hidden area first.

Good luck.
