Removing Driver's carpet

Following a leaking windscreen, both front carpets are completely sodden. I have managed to remove the passenger side, but cannot remove the driver's side without fear of damage.

Any advice on how:confused: to do this greatly received. I am referring to the very bottom carpet, the one complete with all the sound deadening.

Thanks, I now have the mats out and they're on the boiler to dry. They were held in by torx screws, and I managed to borrow a set to get them out. Hopefully I can get the mats back in tomorrow and have a 'condensation free' A2 again. The windsreen was broken last Christmas by an Audi dealership, who dropped the wiper on to the screen whilst washing it. The screen has subsequently leaked since the recent heavy frosts, - 15 for three weeks, and I assume the frost popped the seal. Replaced today by Autoglasss at no cost :).

There was water in both compartments, which I have dried out. Back to snow again, so I will wait until Saturday and test to see if Autoglass's new screen has been properly sealed this time.
