Removing ECU

I need to remove my ECU (2005 1.4 TDi) to send off for remap with timmus but want to be sure I do it correctly. He's away/on the road so I can't ask directly. Does anyone have a video of how best to do it or tips to make sure I don't do something I shouldn't? Does the battery need disconnecting first?

Timmus mentioned a video showing how to do it, but hasn't yet sent me the link. Does anyone else have it?

I leave Spain tomorrow so need to know in advance to be sure I do it correctly.

Thanks in advance.

It is just under passenger (drive in Europe) Footwell, right under the CCCU (black box, ECU is nice shiny metal just under it)

Unplug connectors (they have pull tab type things that you pull to side and connector pops off) then pull ECU outward towards the door - it is like a little shelve.

Not sure if Battery unplugging is required - i've done it quite a few times without unplugging battery and it seems to be alive - though likely to not be best practice!

All sorted in less than 30 secs! Hopefully popping it back in will be just as easy.

Just pop it back in before you plug it in felt pretty daft when I was putting it back in myself first time as theres just not enough slack on the loom.

Good tip, thanks.

Looking forward to seeing what difference the remap makes having read plenty of others' posts about it being positive.
