Renewing suspension

My local garage has quoted me £495 for renewing the suspension front and rear. They are a very competent outfit but not A2 specialists. Sounds like a good deal to me. Is it a job better done by an A2 specialist?
Thanks in advance

If you are doing the back end do replace the rear axle bushes.
Renewing the suspension is not a complicated job, assuming no nuts or bolts are seized! If that price is parts and Labour it seems reasonable depending on the quality of the replacement parts. They will not be using Audi parts though!

Parts and Labour. Sachs shock absorbers

Hi

Doesn’t sound a lot of money for all four corners. Have they said what will be changed? Once you start adding up everything (shocks, springs, bump stops, top mounts, covers, nuts and bolts, bushes etc) it soon adds up

I would definitely recommend sticking to sn A2 specialist for this. I don't know which end of "the smoke" you're in, but B&F Autos out at West Hounslow really do know their stuff and do not charge stupid money.

These little cars do not respond well to people who are not totally familiar with their many foibles, and there's not a lot worse than trying to right a "bodge" further down the road.

Best of luck.

I’m in the opposite camp. The suspension on an A2 is no different to any other VW group car of that era. Assuming they are not changing the front control arms then there is nothing unusual at all.
It’s a decent diy job if you have basic tools.

Don’t forget to have the geometry checked afterwards or you will soon have worn tyres.

Sounds a good deal to me! Double check the bits changing, is it top mounts too at front, and mounts at the back under wheel arches?

I would imagine they are pretty much like for like although Audi did fit Monroes to the A2,s from new.

Audi had at least two OEM suppliers, Monroe and Sachs. The TT had Sachs from new and recently they were replaced with Sachs. As recommended by local indie.
So, I think you'll be fine with them.
