Repairing my under-tray

Ooh! Pretty.

I’ve seen your plastic welding skills before and this certainly looks better than my attempt using stainless washers, epoxy and metal clips (all on the inside face so hidden).

My winglets (is that the bits that go up into the wheel arch) don’t have secure mountings - the bolts just spin in the frame - so I added some Audi pop rivets - the plastic kind from the wheel arches - and they do a nice job as well.

Cable ties, hex screws, metal tabs, bolts, screws - it’s no wonder I dread taking the undertray off. Why couldn’t it just be simple?

When I got the car it was held on with self tapping screws through the plastic itself as all the original mounts on the bumper were wrecked. The gaffer tape aerodynamic additions gave up shortly after I got it leaving me with a lovely airbrake on the motorway!

Sorry to swerve Darren. Just some undertray reminiscing.

As promised - possibly the bolt isn’t OEM I guess. For clarity, both images are of the same parts... ?

All the best,

Darren

No apology needed pal. It is all about sharing experiences and helping each other. Your approach and method is as equally valid and relevant. Thanks for sharing and remembering I’d done similar before... ?https://www.a2oc.net/community/inde...d-productive-weekend-working-on-the-a2.34645/

..My car does not have an undertray, I have one to put on but no fixings for it so need to get some

Since this thread was active, I found the following Ebay store where essentially everything you need for securing undertrays, wheel arch liners, and trim can be found, both for VAG and others - has been essential with my recent efforts.

Apologies if my 'man look' missed them though I didn't find the u clips for 4.8mm self taps. I did find these which look pretty good...

Assume you're talking about 4.8mm N10327101 'speed nuts'? - these ones are readily available through Ebay various sellers using that part number as the search term. I also drew a blank at the site I posted above but assume I'm not using the right search term because they've got most other things. Admittedly, they and the Febi 39092 suggested alternative are horrifically expensive - I suspect the Aliexpress route might yield something a bit better value!
