Resetting service intervals

My 04 TDi sport is coming up for a service at around 45,000 miles and i'm more than capable of doing the work myself. How do you clear the service indicators? It's on the longlife service, so this looks like the second service its had (although i've changed the oil a couple of times, off piste).

I've looked at getting the VS682 for resetting the service indicator and fault code reading (not that i have any at present, touch wood...), any opinions on its usefull-ness?

For longlife, you can not reset it your self without a laptop and interface.
But for 15000km interval see your manual!
And use the search funktion;)

I reliased about resetting the service indicator shortly after i'd posted the question, sorry about that. Any opinions on the VS862 tool?

I dont have a laptop and seems a bit excessive to go and buy a laptop and the software just to reset the service indicator.

I've only ever used mine for longlife service indicator resetting and this it does it very easily. The product speil is much more comprehensive:

"Hand-held controller, suitable to work with VAG vehicles including those equipped with Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol. Back-lit LCD display with simple to follow menu-driven software. Reads and clears diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for engine, ABS, airbags, transmission, radio, climate control (A/C), steering wheel and immobilizer vehicle modules. Also resets oil service light (including Long Life), retrieves vehicle information (VIN), displays I/M readiness status and OBDII freeze frame data. Turns off malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) for engine, airbag, ABS and automatic transmission. Supplied in handy-case with EOBD and USB cables. Fully updatable from the internet. Optional connector lead available for 2-pin VAG applications - Model No. VS8X01"

You can either get one for £167.05 as a clearance item from PVRDIRECT:

OR, for £100 from this guy on ebaY:

Wish these prices had been around when I bought mine a year ago!
