Returning to an A2 (again!)

Hello to all!

After a break from A2 ownership I am returning to the fold. In fact I have just bought 2 in 2 days!!

Managed to source an 03 plate TDI with a mere 82k on the clock and good history which needs a little work. As some stage white van man "tickled" down driver side which was factored into purchase price and it has lumpy power steering which I am confident can be sorted. Any how, this was bought for a job location change which sees more miles coming my way and I love these for frugal running costs and practicality and promised the good lady I would not play with it as it would serve its purpose as is. Within 2 hours I have secured another 1.4 petrol which I will use as a donor to make good all issues which would bug me.

Luckily it has bose which will be transferred on a sunny weekend and it also has black leather. Slight down side is that it is a bench rear seat I think and I have split rear seats in TDI so hoping someone has one to swap?

Look forward to being part of the A2 community again and hopefully a long term ownership that is not cut short like previously.

Welcome back,

When you have had an A2
nothing else will do

I am a poet and didn't know it !

Have fun

Its a shame that you can't swap a four seater with a five seater, it is possible, but a big job and certainly not possible without some serious engineering to the floor.

I would imagine changing the number of seats in a car wold also have to be declared for dvla/ insurance purposes too.

Is it a TDI sport and did you pick it up off autotrader by any chance? I'm pretty sure its one that I phoned for but it had sol within hours.

Thanks all for the messages. Yes it is a shame but worst case I will sell/exchange the 5 seat set up as it will recover more of the initial outlay and then begin the delightfully fun hunt for another leather interior! Its a shame transfer of different sets is such a big job but in the interest of safety its a project well left I feel. Another slight disappointment is the spare car has open sky which is what I also love to have but I am no where near brave/skilled enough to swap that over like people have in the past!! Photos will follow when it is as I want it to be!

One was yes!! Fortunately it was local to me and I found by pure chance so pounced on it as was a great deal.

Hi Paul
Good to see you back in the fold.I have still got the Tdi 90 with your double din dash and RNS-E. Hopefully will see you at Castle Combe in May or October ADI?
Terry

Hello Terry!

Hope to make one of the Combe events but work is crazy and has me away weekdays so weekend time generally entails family time. Chuffed to find the cars I have and amazed at the price I secured them for as suspected a second car for commuting budget of what I had would not get an A2 to keep me happy. The issue is always that my last a2 was so mint and specced I can't help but get the same again.

New one will eventually end up with full sport leather, bose, cruise, possibly double din and rnse, electric rear windows. Just wish I could retro open sky!!

Just watch this space, Some of our expert members will be able to offer this option very soon!!!!

This I am very very interested in indeed. I have a donor car at the minute with open sky that I would sacrifice for the roof parts if it can be done. The mechanism and roof all seem to be in very good order.

I am sure that there will be more details here soon, but we also have an expert aluminium welder in our membership!!!
amongst other experts on here!
