Rims 1.2

Iv'e never seen an A2 1.2tdi before in reallife. But at each photo I see the rims are the same things. What's with the rims, why do they look like that? I haven't yet seen it up close, but when I look at the pictures it actually looks Ugly.[B)]

All the 1.2s have these not too fancy looking wheelcaps to reduce drag, and you are not allowed to change the rims on these cars from the original rims and 145/80 R14 tires (something to do with the 1.2 being tax-free for 3 years, at least here in Germany). And the rims are made out of Aluminum (although they look like normal steel-rims when you remove the caps). Rims and tires are ridiculously expensive (maybe I should try a bicylce dealer for the tires..:) The wheel housings are narrower on the 1.2, too, so wider tires would not fit anyways...

Visited the dealer this afternoon and got two new wheelcaps for 46 Euros..:-( because the old ones are badly scratched....

Tyres for this car are not expensive here in England - so Frido why not buy a couple of tyres while you are over here!

I paid £35 plus VAT (17.5%) each for new Bridgestone B381 145/80 R14s
thats about 64 Euros each - fitted, balanced and old tyres taken away. But you need to give the tyre dealer a weeks notice. Audi would charge a lot more

PS: the complete wheel and tyre fits perfectly beneath the false boot floor!

Ah, preparing the car for the social ? ;)

Which wheelcaps do you replace? I've scratched those on the right side (and probably some curbstones too...). But since I don't come to the social, I don't intend to replace the wheelcaps any time soon :D
