Has anyone cut a rnse front of a tt ? The b versions seem quite rare apart from the tt ones, but looking at the photos I don't think there is enough "flat" part to cut down so curious if anyone has tried.
The tt one seems to be shaped. image.jpeg
Don't want to waste my money on something that's not do able so will only risk it if someone else has cut one down successfully to fit.

I can see why you are asking, the front fascia is very different. But I was told that the TT fascia can be cut down, perhaps it is possible only on an earlier model?

Someone should be able to confirm this either way, soon!

It doesn't seem to be flat enough inside the cutting perimeter...
A3, A4 and A6 fascias can be trimmed down.

Started to install a unit today and getting a bit stuck.
The sound kept on going on and off in conjunction with tel appearing on the dis, cured it by removing the pin in the original symphony power connector marked alarm ground,my adaptor is wired that this goes to tel mute pin 11 of the quad lock.
So my question is where on the rnse is alarm grnd supposed to go to as I can't see on the pin outs diagram a alarm ground.

Good stuff,I will tape it up and forget it then, everything works perfect thanks to all the info given out by people such as yourself, appreciated.

So what was the verdict?
Is there enough flat plastic surrounding the RNSE 193B from the TT for it to be cut down for the A2?
I am having the same issue you were facing in sourcing a 193B. I have a RNSD+BOSE and am looking for an upgrade.
I have seen some 193F and 193G and 193BX versions. Does anyone know whether they support the GALA and the rest of the A2 DIS + BOSE?

@Valpen It took me the best part of 18 months to track down a 193B - they are very rare, and command a high price when they do appear.

I'd probably advise going down the route of purchasing a 192 unit cheap to "get your hand in" and at least learn about the fittings, then when you find a 193B it should be a shoe-in.

The B is the only Mk 2 (193) one that supports Gala properly.

PS - I have a couple of 192 units for sale at the moment for reasonable prices, both of which are pre-cut for A2s. See MarketPlace for details.

What do you know about an 8P0 035 193 E unit?
Any ideas what functionalites would be missing from a "193 B" unit?
The 193B can be configured to code the car as an A6 (to mimic the A2)

later ones can still be used but you need to upgrade the firmware to allow that coding.
So either will work but after the 193B you need to download the latest version of the software onto a CD from the PCBBC RNSE software site.

The functionality is supposed to be identical apart from that.

The firmware also adds a few extra features. Well worth installing.

Yes Ian,
Well worth bringing the firmware up to date.

Unfortunately, for sone reason, mine does not show the speed limits icons on the sat nav maps. Tom (2Work) and I have been trying to figure out why mine is not showing this. It wouldbe a really useful option.
I was wondering if it could be because mine is the 193B perhaps, but that shouldn’t really make any difference.

I was told (by the seller of course” that it was a 2019 disc.
That would explain it!

But no rush whatsoever., next time you are passing.

by the way, I have moved from flat 3 to flat 12 (sane place)

Cheers

Very interesting as this is the same DVD Number I have, also informed by the seller that this is a 2019 disc.

I will investigate with the seller but I can confirm that my RNS-E, displaying the same disc name does have the speed limit icons.

Going to contact the seller now.

@Bargepower do you have the disc name for the correct 2019 disc so I can quote it please.

Kind regards,

Tom
