Sad times....

Not been a huge contibutor on the BB, often pop in from time to time, but the time has come to move on from the A2. Managed fine when there was just 3 of us, but with iminent arrival baby no2, the A2 is just going to be too small. It is with a lot of regret that im trading it in against a year old pug 308SW (i know, french cars and all that....). Genuinley upset about losing the A2, but despite the addition of roof bars, cycle carriers etc, there was no way that the A2 would contain us all.

Its been a great car, fun to drive, reliable (wheel bearing, rear brake cylinder) over the 4 years or so. Still wincing at replacing the alloys after pothole interface (damm 17" alloys)

Don't do it! We downsized TO the A2 when our 2nd child arrived and it's perfectly large enough for two small children plus clutter. You just end up taking less clutter :)

We purchased an A2 because our second child was coming.. boot is big enough for stupidly large buggy, seats take 4 and there is loads of room inside for stuff... we take what we need and not what we might needs so travel light... easy to park especially in those extra large parent baby bays.,. parked in one a week ago and nothing could touch us

Learn to travel light and the car will be fine

We have a four and eleven year old and we do just fine. You can still get a few things under the rear footwell of the four year

old, and i do think with bigger cars you take more than you sometimes need.

Keep it, i'm sure it wouldn't disappoint.

We have just come back from a 2-week family holiday in the South of France - two adults, two boys under 5, all luggage packed easily inside without a roof box, travelled 1500miles completely problem-free. It was a source of continual amusement to see the much larger cars like Discoverys and A6s at Dover/Calais absoultely stuffed to the gunnells with kit, plus roof box and no room inside for their occupants and then they see our little A2 :)

Even when we were using a double-buggy you could still get that in the boot with enough room for plenty of baby stuff/ shopping.

I don't have kids but i have family who do and buying a bigger car was just a reason to carry around more junk in it, the a2 is fine for 4 people provided you don't need to carry masses of stuff, smaller car = less junk and audi a2 = car you want to hold on to!

precisely - you should see my brother's car - his partner persuaded him they needed a bigger car with just their one child, so they have an MG ZT-T Estate for the three of them and it's always completely filled to the roof lining with STUFF; almost none of which they ever need whereever they go, but because it's a big car, the space gets filled.

Nooooooooooooooo, You`ve got the roofbars so you only need a roofbox for the extras to keep the Mrs Appy, don`t buy a French motor you`ll regret it!!!!
Think of all those trouble free miles and quality motoring........................

both our boys play tennis and although their kit is not as large as pram, we have no problem fitting all the gear into either car and a large cooler box as well!
keep the car, and as has been suggested, learn to travel with less gear, helps the fuel consumption too!

Thanks guys, but I do a lot of cycling and there are some things that just won't fit in the a2. If the wife and I go cycling the bikes can go on top and the child trailer goes in the car with one seat out. It just won't fit in other wise. With 2 children, there's no where to carry the child trailer. I prefer to keep the bike in the car generally, particularly if I have to leave the car for any length of time (the bike is worth a fair bit more than the a2), which again is doable with three up, but not with four.

Isn't it lovely the lengths the team will go to in order to persuade others not to leave the fold! :) The Mrs. is making occasional noises about 'a new car' - the latest comment being about liking the Q3 ( bur lets be objective here - Fi likes the Juke!) and I pose a hurt expression and tell her we are never selling. If we have another wee one; I was slightly disappointed I cant have 2 isofix car seats in the A2 - but the roof bars are already in the garage and a roof box will be purchased when required. Its a keeper!

Murdo,

Why can't you put 2 isofix seats in your A2? Do you have a rear bench seat?

Yep, got the bench Iain, and as Chris says - it has only 3 mounts so you can place the seat behind the passenger or in the centre. Bit pants really.

Cheers ULP, that's exactly what my dilemma was. 50% of the time I use the car it has a bike in it, I ride to work and just use the for bike/ child transport duties. I will miss the A2 terribly, from the handling to the gutsy performance of the 3 pot oil burner. Having said that, I was amazed at how smooth the engine was on the 308. Noise inside the cabin was a lot less too, but thats evolution in diesel engines for you. Here what your saying about the trim, but have say Peugeot seemed to have upped their game in this department.
