Scan : Merseyside/North West?

My daughter's alarm has been going off intermittently for the last few evenings between 8 - 10pm around half an hour to an hour after the car has been locked (it hasn't, so far, gone off during the day). She has not heard the 4 beeps when starting the engine and the only other symptom has been one occasion where the boot was indicated as being open when it wasn't.

All other electrics function perfectly.

Is there anyone in the Merseyside or North West area who would be willing to scan the car please?

Thanks

Al

It is worth checking that the (service) engine flap is closed properly too, this is a frequent cause of false alarms.

I am not sure what you mean about the four beeps, but when locking the car on the remote make sure that the hazards flash. If they don't flash it means that there is a door, tailgate or service flap that is still open.

Hi Steve

Thanks for your reply.

All the doors, tailgate and the service flap have been closed. When locking the car with the remote the hazards do flash.

Re the beeps, I've read some previous posts regarding alarm faults and they mentioned the 4 beeps being a faulty alarm controller.

Hi,

My tailgate micro-switches are faulty in my A2, one of the symptoms of this are that the boot light doesn't come on when its opened. The other symptom is that occasionally the alarm is triggered when the car is locked and closed. For me it happens when the car is sat in hot sun and afterwards the DIS shows that the boot is open even though its closed. Opening and closing the tailgate "fixes" it so it might be the boot micro-switches that are causing your problem. As Steve has said, a diagnostic scan should pinpoint what's been triggering the alarm.

regards

Andrew

Mine had similar symptoms and was a faulty CCCU, the boot light would 'pulse' between full on and off, sometimes the car would lock and the alarm would be silent all night, but most times the alarm would sound within 10 mins of locking the car. Tom (timmus) provided a replacement CCCU fitted and keys coded - I cannot recommend Tom enough, top service by a top man
I also checked out the boot micro switch first, easy check with a multi-meter, mine was perfect
