Hi there fellow A2-owners!

I'm still flooding the forum with questions, hope you guys don't mind;[35]

Does the A2 1,4TDi SE have an alarm fitted as standard? I was thinking about the little blinking thingy close to the doorhandle when i lock the car, is that a indication of an alarm? Or does it just show that the car is locked?

Thats the alarm bigshow! Check out the A2 manual, its got all the info in there. Thats the only thing with a well equipped car I guess, lots to learn up on!

IIRC, you'll find there to be two alarm type sounds. One is like a quieter alarm if you leave a door/boot open. This has caught a few people out (including me) wondering what the heck was going on.
Then there is the full blown, scare the thiefs away alarm that is about as loud as a sparrow. Have a play around one day (to the annoyance of your neighbours!).

Nice to know, guess i now can cut off some more ££ from my insurance-bill[24]

By the way, is there any way to test the "sparrow":) Or maybe i should just lock the doors and throw a brick thru the sidewindow[27]

Oh yeah, it has snowed 80cm in 3 days here, and it's still snowing! I'm getting good use of the heated-seats and the climate controll

Try unlocking the door with the key, rather than using the button on the fob. If you do not insert the key into the ignition within a few seconds the alarm should be triggered.

Or, maybe sit in the car and lock it with the fob. Then wave your arms about. This should set off the motion sensors inside, but has the side effect of making you look like a ninny...

Bigshow, beg, borrow or steal a dog, put it inside then lock the car when the dog moves, the sparrow squeaks. For GTi type results put a cat in as well.

Bigshow,

That's not an alarm. That's a bogus pretend-there's-an-alarm light. The A2 doesn't come with a burglary alarm fitted standard (at least not overhere).
If you're car is fitted with one you should probably see a switch in the interior to turn it off.
And you could see some ultr-sonic interior sensors.

The light is standard on all A2's but it's no indication for an alarm.

If you have the alarm system, then there should be a second switch over the switch for the fuel flap on the B pillar next to the driver seat...

Bye, Frido.

You are safe however, if you can arrange to be robbed, mugged or car-jacked as you pass a GATSO travelling in excess of the calibrated radar trigger speed or if SPECS happens to be watching as the dirtbag attempts to clone your car![3]
